Viola's Room was an audio-driven journey through a moonlit fever dream.
Barefoot and wearing headphones, audiences feel their way through a labyrinthine installation as an unseen narrator reveals a story of innocence lost and obsession unleashed.
As Technical Manager for Viola's Room, I led a team of six technicians, three deputies, and a Design Maintenance Manager. Having previously served as Deputy Technical Manager, I was promoted to this role, where my primary responsibility was to contribute to the smooth and successful technical operation of the production. This involved collaborating with the team to identify and resolve technical and maintenance issues as well as drafting and implementing robust show operating procedures.
Given the immersive nature of the production, I interacted with audiences when necessary and worked closely with the Front of House and Operational teams. My role extended beyond the immediate production needs, supporting other areas of activity within the venue, contributing to the broader goals of the Punchdrunk Production team.
A key aspect of the production was its pulsed-entry format, requiring careful coordination and technical expertise to ensure a seamless experience for each entry. I worked closely with the team to maintain the technical integrity of the show and supported their training and development throughout the production.
